Genshin Impact Pity Calculator & Wish Tracker
Are you saving up for the next Archon or preparing to bring home your favorite DPS? Knowing exactly how many wishes you have—and how close you are to the elusive 5-star guarantee—is the most crucial part of resource management in Teyvat. Our free, secure Genshin Impact Pity Calculator helps you plan your pulls without ever needing to log into external services.
Unlike automated tools that request your account login tokens (putting your account at risk of being hacked or banned), our wish tracker is 100% manual and operates entirely client-side. You simply input your current pity count and available currency, and we do the complex math to tell you if your primogem stash is truly safe.
How the Genshin Impact Pity System Works
"Pity" is a gacha mechanic designed to protect players from extreme bad luck. In Genshin Impact, the game actively tracks how many wishes you have made since your last 5-star drop. The base probability of pulling a 5-star character is extremely low (0.6%).
To compensate for this, the pity system slowly ramps up your chances. As you get closer to the maximum pity threshold, the game forces a 5-star to drop, resetting your pity counter back to zero. Understanding where you currently sit on this pity tracker allows you to strategically save your Intertwined Fates for the banners that matter most.
Hard Pity vs. Soft Pity: What's the Difference?
There are two distinct phases of the pity system that every player should know:
- Hard Pity (90 Wishes): This is the absolute ceiling. If you somehow make 89 wishes without pulling a 5-star, your 90th wish is 100% mathematically guaranteed to be a 5-star. Hitting hard pity is actually incredibly rare.
- Soft Pity (74 Wishes): Starting exactly at pull 74 on the Character Event banner, the probability of a 5-star dropping skyrockets from the base 0.6% to roughly 32% per pull. The vast majority of players will secure their 5-star between pulls 74 and 85.
Our calculator instantly reveals exactly how many Primogems you need to safely reach both the soft pity threshold and the absolute hard pity guarantee.
The 50/50 Rule Explained
Reaching pity guarantees a 5-star, but it does not necessarily guarantee the featured character on the banner. Welcome to the infamous 50/50 rule.
When you trigger a 5-star drop on a limited banner, the game flips a coin. There is a 50% chance you get the limited promotional character (e.g., Raiden Shogun, Furina, Arlecchino). There is a 50% chance you get a "Standard Banner" character (e.g., Diluc, Mona, Qiqi). If you "lose" the 50/50 and get a Standard character, the game compensates you: your next 5-star pull is now 100% guaranteed to be the featured limited character. You can toggle this "Guaranteed" status in our calculator to accurately reflect your account's state.
How to Find Your Current Wish History
To use our calculator accurately, you need to know your current pity. Here is how to find it safely within the game client:
Step 1: Open the Wish Menu
Log into Genshin Impact, open the Paimon Menu, and navigate to the 'Wish' screen.
Step 2: View History
Click the 'History' button at the bottom of the screen. This will open a log of your past pulls (note: it may take up to an hour for recent pulls to appear here).
Step 3: Count from the Last 5-Star
Count the number of pulls starting from page 1, going back until you see your last 5-star drop. Each page has 5 pulls. So if your last 5-star was 6 pages ago on the 3rd slot down, your pity is roughly 28. Enter that number into our calculator above.
Frequently Asked Questions About Genshin Pity
What is Hard Pity in Genshin Impact?
Hard pity is the absolute maximum number of wishes you must make before the game guarantees a 5-star pull. For the Character Event banner, hard pity is exactly 90 wishes.
What is Soft Pity in Genshin Impact?
Soft pity is a hidden mechanic that dramatically increases your odds of pulling a 5-star. On the Character Event banner, soft pity begins at your 74th pull. The vast majority of players will pull a 5-star between pulls 74 and 85.
How does the 50/50 rule work?
When you pull a 5-star on the limited banner, there is a 50% chance it is the featured event character, and a 50% chance it is a standard banner character. If you lose the 50/50, your next 5-star is 100% guaranteed to be the featured character.
Does pity carry over between banners?
Yes, pity carries over between banners of the same type. For example, if you make 40 wishes on the current Character Event banner and don't get a 5-star, you will start at 40 pity on the next Character Event banner.
