Stardew Valley Crop Profit Calculator
When Pierre's General Store opens on the first day of the season, every Stardew Valley farmer faces the same dilemma: what should I buy to maximize my gold? Some crops sell for a massive premium but take weeks to grow, while others regrow every few days providing steady income. Our Stardew Valley Crop Profit Calculator solves this math for you instantly.
By factoring in seed costs, growth time, regrowth rates, and the strict 28-day seasonal limit, this tool reveals the true value of your farmland. Whether you are a casual player looking to upgrade your coop, or a min-maxer aiming for the golden clock, understanding your profit margins is essential.
How to Calculate Stardew Crop Profits
Calculating true profit in Stardew Valley is more complicated than simply subtracting seed cost from the sell price, because you must factor in time.
Step 1: Select the Season
Choose Spring, Summer, or Fall from the dropdown menu to filter the crops available. (Winter is excluded as outdoor farming is generally not possible without late-game items).
Step 2: Pick Your Crop
Select the specific crop you are planning to plant. The calculator automatically knows its growth time and if it regrows (like Blueberries or Hops).
Step 3: Enter Amount Planted
Input the number of seeds you plan to buy and plant on Day 1 of the season. Click calculate to see your total expected net profit by Day 28.
Understanding Gold Per Day (G/Day)
If you browse any Stardew Valley forum, you will see players obsessing over G/Day (Gold Per Day). This is the great equalizer of crops.
For example, a Sweet Gem Berry sells for a massive 3,000g, but it takes 24 days to grow. A Blueberry bush only sells for 50g per berry, but it yields multiple berries every 4 days after maturing. By calculating the total profit generated across the entire 28-day season and dividing it by 28, the G/Day metric allows you to compare a single-harvest crop directly against a multi-harvest crop to see which is truly better for your wallet.
Best Crops for Spring, Summer, and Fall
While our calculator will give you the exact math based on your farm size, here are the universally agreed-upon kings of each season (assuming you plant on Day 1):
- Spring: Strawberries. You have to buy these at the Egg Festival, meaning you can't plant them on Day 1 of Year 1. But for Year 2 onwards, they are the undisputed kings of Spring due to their high sell price and fast regrowth.
- Summer: Starfruit & Blueberries. Blueberries are amazing for passive income and low effort since they regrow. However, if you have access to the Oasis, Starfruit yields an incredible raw profit, especially when turned into wine.
- Fall: Cranberries & Pumpkins. Cranberries offer excellent G/Day with multiple berries per harvest. Pumpkins are the best single-harvest crop and have a chance to grow into a Giant Crop.
Artisan Goods vs. Raw Crops
It is important to note that our calculator evaluates raw crop profits. In the mid-to-late game, you should rarely sell your crops raw.
Placing a crop into a Keg (to make Wine or Juice) or a Preserves Jar (to make Jelly or Pickles) will drastically multiply its value. For example, a base-quality Starfruit sells for 750g. When turned into Starfruit Wine with the Artisan profession, it sells for 3,150g! Use our calculator to figure out what to grow, but always aim to process your most valuable harvests.
Frequently Asked Questions About Farming Profits
What does Gold Per Day (G/Day) mean?
Gold Per Day (G/Day) is the standard metric used by players to compare crops. It divides the total net profit of a crop by the 28 days of a season, showing you exactly how much passive income that crop generates daily.
Do regrowth crops make more money?
Yes, generally. Crops like Blueberries, Cranberries, and Strawberries only require you to buy the seed once, but they produce multiple harvests throughout the season, dramatically lowering your overhead costs.
Does this calculator account for fertilizer?
This specific calculator provides a baseline assuming normal quality crops without speed-gro or fertilizer. In the late game, using Deluxe Speed-Gro can squeeze in an extra harvest, slightly changing the math.
