Dungeon Score Rating
In modern World of Warcraft, getting invited to Mythic+ groups relies entirely on your Mythic+ Rating (formerly known as your Raider.IO score).
Many players struggle to understand exactly how this number is calculated, and end up wasting hours pushing the "wrong" keys on the wrong weeks. Our Mythic+ Score Calculator breaks down the complex Blizzard math so you know exactly which keys will yield the biggest rating upgrades.
How Mythic+ Score is Calculated
Every dungeon in the active seasonal pool has its own individual score. Your total character rating is simply the sum of all your individual dungeon scores.
For a single dungeon, the game records your two best runs: your best run during a Tyrannical week, and your best run during a Fortified week. It calculates a raw baseline score for each run based on the key level and how fast you completed the timer.
Tyrannical vs. Fortified Weighting
The most important rule to understand is the 1.5x / 0.5x Weighting System.
Blizzard does not just add your Tyrannical and Fortified scores together evenly. Whichever run had the higher raw score is designated as your "Best Run" and its value is multiplied by 1.5x (150%). The other run is designated as your "Alternate Run" and is multiplied by 0.5x (50%).
This means that pushing a +12 on your good week is often vastly superior for your overall score than trying to fix a +5 on a week with terrible affixes.
Time Penalties and Bonuses
While the base key level provides the bulk of your score, the timer modifiers can easily push you over the edge into a new rating bracket.
- Over Time (Depleted): You suffer a massive score penalty, but it is not zero. A depleted +15 will often give more score than a timed +10. Never leave a key just because the timer expired!
- In Time (+1): Awards the baseline score for that key level.
- Fast (+2 / +3): Beating the timer by 20% or 40% awards bonus points. A +3 on a lower key can occasionally outscore a sluggish +1 on a slightly higher key.
Keystone Master (KSM) Requirements
The most coveted seasonal achievement is Keystone Master, which rewards a unique mount and requires a total rating of 2000.
Assuming an 8-dungeon seasonal pool, you need an average of 250 score per dungeon. Thanks to the recent squish and scaling changes in Dragonflight and The War Within, a 250 score generally requires completing both Tyrannical and Fortified versions of a dungeon at +7 or +8 on average.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do depleted keys give score?
Yes. While you are penalized heavily for missing the timer, a depleted high-level key (like a depleted +12) will often award more score than a timed low-level key (like a timed +8).
What score is required for Keystone Master (KSM)?
Keystone Master (KSM) requires an overall rating of 2000. In an 8-dungeon pool, this translates to an average score of 250 per dungeon, which requires completing both Tyrannical and Fortified at +7 or +8.
Why does my second run give so little score?
Blizzard heavily weights your best performance. Your highest run is multiplied by 1.5x, while your alternate week run is only multiplied by 0.5x. Upgrading your 'bad' week provides diminishing returns compared to pushing your 'good' week higher.
